First – the local scene. I voted today for the Green Party – did my best to make a difference and exercise my rights in a privileged democracy. My fondest wish, oddly enough, is not that the Greens win or that the Liberals are unseated, but that huge numbers of people turn out to vote. Nothing is more important in a democracy. It only works when people vote. If too few people exercise this precious freedom, it all falls apart. So, fingers crossed on big numbers turning out.
Next – the US, where things get more absurd by the day. I am doing my best to pay less attention to this particular circus, which is why I’m delighted that next summer, when we travel to Switzerland, we are also going to take a trip to Italy – hike in the Dolomites – check out living there. An adventure of however many years in Italy would be fun and, I suspect, good for the soul. (45 fired the man investigating him – yeah – wow! – see why I’m trying not to pay attention?)
So – I also got a lot done: bread baking, laundry. cleaning, shopping, a dog walk in the warm sun! Hurrah for warm sun and the colour green! I’ve missed it and here it is! Yay! First day hiking in a T-shirt only! How exciting is that!
Simon – out in the yard all day working miracles in what used to be a bit of a junk pile. It’s coming along!
Tomorrow: a writing day!
Thursday – a hiking day!
