This afternoon, the puppies and I did a thorough exploration of the upper trails (and bushwhacks) at Bannock Point. We now have a very good lay of the land and I am very glad this is only five minutes from home (oh dear – two “verys” in one sentence).
But yes – spring: the snow is almost slush – sticky and still deep but when you sink in, it’s wet and then it doesn’t want to release your foot.
Also birds – I heard more today than I have in previous days and they seemed pretty darn excited. I even began thinking that it might soon be time to carry bear spray again.
Warm – this is another sign. No gloves, jacket open, took my hat off – yes – warm. Heck, I even had Muesli for breakfast again instead of oatmeal. Yay!
There isn’t much else to report. I’ll be glad to have the weekend done. Excitement now comes in the form of weekdays when I can expect agents and publishers to be at their desks and possibly respond to queries and submissions.
Hiking – writing – editing – an odd sort of life right now. I know it’s heading in the right direction but if this were a drive across Canada, this would be the prairie stretch – something to get through before the excitement begins.
