Mount Neptune

p1020418_fotor Today – an epic snowshoe trip to the top of Mount Neptune in the Rossland Range. We should have known it wouldn’t be a cakewalk when a couple of skiers headed in that direction told us we’d never make it.

But Ha! We did. Albeit painfully. The grade was steep in places, especially near the top – and then it was up both ways so our total elevation was not the promised 700 metres – more like 1000 I would say. And the wind howled and bit into us.

In other words – it was a perfect day. We had the best company. I adore the KMC group. I love our leader, Ben – he’s simply the best. And, of course, Simon, my love, was with us – so what could be better? We even found a little cabin where we had a late lunch with a roaring fire in the stove.

This tired feeling at the tend of a day of heavy physical exertion is just the very best feeling. Now for a hot bowl of stew and a roaring wood fire. Yes – life is good.p1020423_fotor p1020424_fotor p1020432_fotor p1020435_fotor p1020437_fotor p1020444_fotor p1020448_fotor p1020452_fotor p1020455_fotor p1020456_fotor p1020457_fotor p1020467_fotor p1020474_fotor
