I told Simon, as I was downloading these from my camera that they may well be the most beautiful winter shots I have ever taken – and that’s probably due to a few conditions: perfect weather, amazing location and a fabulous group of people. The members of the KMC are some of the nicest people I have ever met or hiked with – truly. I am in love with the whole lot of them
Come to think of it, at this moment, after such a day, I am in love with the world.
I am in love with my beautiful husband, who even, actually, without whining or complaining, got up at 5.15 a.m. so that we could go up White Queen. And he also didn’t whine one bit about the fairly massive elevation gain – and what a destination: 360-degree views from the top and beautiful all the way up. And then there was down, when Ben suggested we try a different way – a trail-breaking bushwack with very, very steep downs. This meant some deep powder and very quick downhills including a couple of memorable bum slides (deliberate) that had us all shrieking loud enough to cause an avalanche – and yes, we were in avalanche territory. Oops!
And yes, if you have surmised that the dark cloud has fully lifted – it has.
All it takes is being brave, communication, sticking with it, letting love win and living in your bliss. Oh yes – it also helps to have someone who loves you with all his heart.
