Today we put the bedroom back together. We still have window trim to do – but the majority is handled. I thought the floor was a challenge – it was nothing compared to the ceiling, which required ladders and crouching down in tiny little spaces holding pine boards that Simon did things to with a nail gun.
It took time – and then this morning, Simon had to do some “simple” trim work. Ha! Nothing is simple!
It took time. Plus cussing. But then we had the pleasure of putting it back together. And it makes such a difference.
To celebrate, we drove into town in a snowstorm. Eeek!!! We bought wine and beer. We are going to drink and play Scrabble. Yes – yes, we do know how to party on a Friday night.
We are hopeful about doing the office tomorrow. What a pleasure it will be to move the office upstairs and restore downstairs to a real wonderful living space. Thanks to Simon (who truly is a genius at doing this stuff) we’re creating a very beautiful home.
I am doing my best to focus on this and not the snow and the feeling of being trapped. Looking at it another way, if I were on Vancouver Island right now I’d be far more trapped. Yes, I’d have the park next door and the back 40 to hike in, but here I have Simon who will drive me where I want to go.
I also have Simon to hug whenever I want.
And two dogs.
Not such a bad deal when you think about it.
