Tour de Tzou

p1000754_fotor Sometimes I find it challenging to write about a hike I have done so often. What is there to say that hasn’t already been said?

Mount Tzouhalem: this was our back yard when Simon still lived in the floathome. That reminder – those memories – rose again and again as we hiked the mountain. Penny and I started at the Green Trail and hiked up the Awesome Trail – such familiar territory. Then, with happy dogs in tow, all the way down to the sanctuary for a snack and back up to the cross where Penny took a photo of me because after all the many, many times I have hiked here, I have never had a photo taken of me at the cross. I thought I’d better rectify that as this was likely my last time up here.

Then – hiking up the ridge with a lunch stop at the top. The sun was beating down and we both could have wished for inflatable air mattresses and a long doze.

After that, we hiked down Field of Dream, passed the place where Simon and I had lunch on that amazing day – Oct. 5, 2015 – the day we first kissed – the day we count as our anniversary. – and then back down Awesome and the long loop back, even including the Green Trail loop past the old car. It was here in particular that the memories flooded back: taking the dogs for their morning walk almost every day.

And so I thought about my beautiful man all day with deep love and contentment in my heart. Back home – a hot bubble bath, a brief nap and now – a lazy evening. Yesterday, I managed to start my next writing project. I doubt I’ll get anything done with that tonight but tomorrow – a day of cleaning and laundry, I do expect to forge ahead. It’s wonderful to be back with a project that I believe in.

I’m not sure it’s time yet to start counting the days until I am back in Simon’s arms – but soon.

It’s a most precious gift that I am well aware of: to love and be loved in return.p1000757_fotor p1000758_fotor p1000759_fotor p1000764_fotor p1000766_fotor p1000767_fotor p1000769_fotor p1000771_fotor p1000773_fotor p1000775_fotor p1000777_fotor
