Mount Tzouhalem

Beautiful, beautiful day, and not just because I hiked with friends under a bluebird sky and in the company of my two favourite puppies in the whole world – no, not because of that. It was a beautiful day because I consciously appreciated Simon all day, as I hiked, as I drove home, as I napped while he played his guitar (with the amp on!) and right now as I sit writing this.

I can’t explain why my heart is so full today. I suspect it is every day, but there are times when I am so much more aware of it than others. This is a day of acute awareness, and that’s a good thing because tonight Simon plays at the Shipyard and I’m going to get dressed and primped and I will dance all night long. How lucky am I?

Back to hiking for just a minute. We met at the trailhead just before ten a.m. and headed straight up the awesome trail, then on to field of dreams and to the top of Mount Tzouhalem. We then hiked along the ridge to the cross, then down past the Inuksuit until we came to the old main line where we turned and hiked back up to the south end of field of dreams, taking that trail until it intersected against with awesome. On the way down, however, we branched off at Jitka’s bench to take E1 back to the trailhead. It makes a great loop. With a nice, relaxing lunch, we hiked about four and a half hours. Lunch may well have been the high point (figuratively) in the hike, because we sat on sun-warmed grass and relaxed, soaking up the sunshine. I’d go so far as to call it sunbathing on April 1!

As I said, beautiful day. I interrupted this post to join Simon for a cup of herbal tea out on the deck in the sunshine. I don’t think it’s possible for me to be any happier.

Simon: that is the name of my happiness. I know that I generate my joy internally. But still, being with Simon ignites a glow in my heart and suffuses my body with contentment.

In case I haven’t made it clear yet, let me just say that I am happy. I am in love.
