I’m so happy because now I don’t feel guilty about not hiking (again).
That said, I sense a few hiking days in my very near future. And it’s just as well. Cabin fever has set in.
Yesterday, Simon and I participated in a music trivia night with a whole bunch of other folks at the Duncan Curling Club, raising funds for Alzheimer’s. We had great fun and actually came in fifth! A very good showing. But seriously, I didn’t know even a fraction of what others at the table knew but I had such a good time, I didn’t mind. I was also able to contribute the odd bit, so that was nice! Oh – and we won a couple of door prizes.
I love games of any kind. Winning is nice, but the way I see it, if we do our best and enjoy the ride, we’re winners.
Today, we are holed up above the stable, doing loads of laundry, writing, huddling indoors and staying dry. Simon has to be up at some ungodly hour tomorrow to fly to Montreal. That means the dogs and I will get an early start, hopefully on a trail.
With Simon off for a couple of days, it’s just going to be us girls. We’re going to hike, cuddle, write, cuddle some more, sleep a lot, have baths (me, not the dogs) and be as slothful as possible, except, of course, when we are up on a trail somewhere.
Then, when Simon gets back, I am hoping we can start planning another backpacking trip in Strathcona. Then the next stage of planning – a huge summer road trip!
