There you have it: me: new dress, new shoes, new hat. What fun!
The most fun of all this? Simon thinks I look hot and, in the end, that’s what really counts.
We had great plans for the day. They started with a 20k hike on the Cowpath. Plan B was something or other on Mount Tzouhalem. We went with plan C, which involved sleeping in until almost 9 am, a late breakfast, tons of research on backpacking gear, a late-ish lunch and, for me, a nap. Simon made himself far more useful by restringing his guitars and playing. (He is so amazing).
In my defence, I was not entirely lazy. I finished writing a piece, which I will submit tomorrow to a national newspaper. I also cleaned the bathroom. I am equally proud of both. Oh – I also walked the dogs.
I had a few moments today of feeling guilty for “wasting” such a beautiful , warm, sunny January day. After all, I said to myself, I “should” be hiking.
However, I believe I am coming to the realization that the only thing I actually should be doing is whatever I love to do and want to do in the moment. And what I have wanted to do today is write and be with the man I love so much. And that is exactly what I have done and will continue to do for the rest of the day.
