Today I experienced a first: shopping on Black Friday.
Happily, Simon and I got ourselves in the mood: I practiced elbow jabs; I think Simon was thinking of some of his black belt Karate moves. Luckily, it was not necessary – at least not in the stores we were interested in!
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it’s true: we had fun! Oh my goodness, the bargains – and all on the good stuff like snowshoes and gaiters and – um – other hiking stuff. And Simon helped feed my secret obsession – he bought me a pair of gorgeous Smartwool socks!
Happy I am.
And just when I thought the day couldn’t get any better, it did. It involved chocolate and hiking (walking actually) at Cable Bay with the dogs (see photos) and a terrific lunch and a nap and just all the wonderful being-togetherness that is still a miracle to me.
I have no idea why I have to go along with the crowd and call it Black Friday. It was Golden Friday.
Anowshoeing tomorrow on Forbidden Plateau! And before that, a lazy, quiet, domestic evening. Yeah – it doesn’t get any better than this.
