All right – a few more photos from top of Gibson – and I truly thought I wanted to add a few more words. And perhaps I don’t. I can only say that I loved these two days and wouldn’t trade them for the world.
I spent most of my life hiking alone. Then I started hiking with Julie a few years ago (6?) and then last year we discovered a hiking group and made amazing friends. Now I am often torn – and not torn at the same time.
I still love hiking alone – getting into that quiet meditative state of being where my thoughts go still and it’s just me and nature. And I love hiking with good people – the companionship and friendship are priceless.
And I figure I’m blessed to be happy no matter which way it goes.
Now I am experiencing the great excitement of planning a trip to Europe again next summer – 5 or 6 weeks. I will visit my wonderful relatives in Germany and I will hike in the Italian Dolomites, the Julian Alps in Slovenia and wherever else the fancy takes me. I may have to spend a couple of days in Switzerland – after all, I have to get more chocolate. It’s disappearing far too quickly.
Today – a fabulous Sunday at the market, picking produce and fruit from the garden, doing some laundry (much needed),walking with Abby and beginning to edit Julie’s Switzerland photos.
