There she is – isn’t she pretty? She’s enjoying her food and the pond – and even the company of the other ducks, who have been hanging out with her. After all, the wild ducks are cousins, right? And I think they help her feel less lonely. So far so good – she’s thriving and looking much sleeker since she came to us.
As for the other picture – just a typical daily harvest of raspberries. I can’t even begin to show a daily harvest of lettuce: the entire neighbourhood is picking in my garden – and even then, I have too much. On the other hand, it’s awfully nice to know that I’m feeding several families.
This week I have been getting a taste of what retirement could look like. I have written only two stories and done a bit of editing. In other words, practically nothing. Today I have not written a word. And here’s the thing – I like it!
That said, I am going back to finish watering my garden. Then I will sprawl on the couch, read, and idle the rest of the day away. Tomorrow I have a big shop to do: all of Abby’s food for when I am gone. That means I am going to have to do the math. Eeek!
