The big countdown to Switzerland has begun. We leave a week from tomorrow. I’m not sure if I’m really excited yet. I suppose I have too much to look forward to in the closer future (Strathcona again on Friday and Mount Wesley and the Wesley Ridge on Saturday). I also am loving the present so much.
So I suppose that’s all good. It still, somehow, seems impossible that in eight days I’ll be in the Alps. But it’s true and I will be and it’s going to be glorious.
I have called the duck, Annabelle. She is coming up for food now and getting very tame. I will purchase more duck food on Thursday. Whether I like it or not, whether I wanted her or not, she has arrived: flew into my life all on her own and she’s my responsibility. I’ll do my best by her. With any luck the eagles and mink won’t get her. I’ll have to take a photo soon: she’s very pretty.
Other than Switzerland – where else is my mind occupied? Well, I’m thinking about the overnight Bedwell/Cream Lake hike in August. I’m thinking about the backpacking trip up Phillips Ridge in September. And I’m wondering about staying at McPhee Lake and doing Mount Frink and secondary Jutland peak.
So there you have my life: eat, sleep, work (less and less) garden, walk the dog, read, Facebook, hike. It doesn’t sound very complicated or even very interesting. But it’s the best kind of life in the world.
