Today my thoughts are centred on my next backpacking adventure: the day after tomorrow. If you had told me a year ago that I couldn’t wait to get out into the wilderness and spend one or more nights there in a tent and sleeping bag, I would have scoffed.
No more. Now I’m not saying I’m obsessed with the idea of sleeping out of doors – not yet – but the possibility lurks. Last fall, camping at Circlet Lake was fine. Truck camping at 5040 was also okay. But it was those two nights in splendid solitude on Flower Ridge with Linda that captured me heart and soul.
And so, as I was walking with Abby today, I did nothing but daydream about Triple Peaks in two days.
I am also dreaming about a solo backpacking trip. My first choice at the moment is to spend two nights alone on Flower Ridge. I love it up there. And I have been up twice, so for a first solo adventure it gives me some sense of familiarity. And I will take Abby with me and see how she does as a camper.
Five weeks from today, I will be on a plane heading to Switzerland!
My life is full of adventure and excitement! Ain’t it just grand!
