We had 19 or 20 people out for our hike/pub evening. Who can count past 10? It was really nice to see some first-timers too. We had fun, we laughed, we ate good food – it was just plain great.
I have hiked alone most of my life. Then I started hiking with just one friend – sometimes more. And then about a year ago, this amazing group came into my life – and it opened my eyes to possibilities. First there were the hikes to places I would never have found or even been able to access on my own: 5040, Triple Peaks, Arrowsmith and so on.
For that I am enormously grateful.
More importantly, I feel blessed to have formed friendships with some amazing people. I could go on and on about their many virtues and how much I care about them – but them that would get sappy pretty quickly, so I won’t.
Suffice to say I feel blessed.
And now, the sun is shining, my work for the week is done, I have picked a big bowl of strawberries , which I shall gobble up for breakfast (and share with Abby). I have picked my first batch of lettuce from the garden (tomorrow night’s dinner) and I am about to relax for the evening and get my day pack ready for tomorrow’s amazing hike to Moat Lake. The weekend is, once again going to be idyllic.
