I think I have both Abby and I pretty much ready to go. What a lot of stuff! Tent, sleeping bag, food, stove, sandals, extra clothing, toothbrush, insect repellant, spikes, first aid stuff – and that’s just me. Abby’s list is almost as long. But no, she’s not coming with us. She’s going to the farm across the street, where I am sure she will have a good time with the other dogs and horses and trying to steal everyone’s food.
A brief pause in my typing as I looked at the photo and the gaiters I was wearing and said to myself, “Gaiters!” And then rushed to my pack and crammed the gaiters into it. I wonder what else I have forgotten – that I will remember when we’re halfway to the trailhead.
As long as I don’t forget food or water, I’ll be fine. This is a good practice run for next weekend. But next weekend, I will have to stuff it all into a backpack. Hurrah! (that cheer, by the way, is totally ironic)
All right then – I will take lots of photos and post them when I get back. First stop, Triple Peaks! (no – not the summit – the lake)
