Mount Benson Again

Weather or no weather, getting out today was wonderful! In fact, more than wonderful! It just felt really, really good.

And we were so lucky: it rained just a tad at the start and then stopped completely. That didn’t necessarily mean clear skies and sunshine – but yes, the sun did its level best to break through the clouds at the top. (clouds won).

It was just a great day of uphill climbing, the rope over the slippery rocks at Cougar Bluff added a nice little touch. HIking down the trail was mostly a waterfall. I love my waterproof boots and my gaiters – oh yes I do.

I also love my hiking companions. Paul and Julie and I were the only ones who opted to go to the top – other people had other engagements. But not us – we pathetically don’t have a life. (well, Julie has a great life most days but the boys were with their dad).

I picked up my ground sheet for my new tent at Valhalla Pure afterwards – and had another glance around the store. I would like to note that I did NOT buy anything else. But in the interests of full disclosure, I have to say I have been obsessing over a new Icebreaker hoodie – and I know I will go back for it.

I am so weak.

Another hike scheduled for tomorrow.

Credit for the group photo goes to Lorne Collicut as usual.
