Okay – we did Maple Mountain today: twice!
In other words, we have every reason to feel chuffed. And we did it with an elderly dog (poor, Buddy – he’s going to be sore) and one person (me) still aching from Arrowsmith yesterday, one person with a healing broken toe and a third person who hadn’t hiked all summer.
As I said, we have every reason to feel chuffed.
We started off at Osborne Bay Road, hiking up the mountain bike trail. Three hours later we reached the summit.. It was simply glorious to sit in the warmth and sunshine and have a leisurely lunch, or as leisurely as it can get when I have a dog drooling on my shoulder.
After lunch we packed down the middle pink trail to the blue trail, took a right turn and met up again with the steep pink trail to the top – and that’s what we did: back up to the top. Once there, we took the road back to the parking lot. We did the whole thing in about 7 hours. Not bad I think.
It didn’t rain and it was warm and sunny and as glorious a day as it’s going to be in the middle of October.
