The light was beautiful early this morning, down by the Nanaimo River. Nice to know there’s one good thing to say about winter – good light for photographers.

But enough of that. What I want to talk about today is “celebration.” Every year, my friends and I choose a word for the year. This is my word for 2014! It is going to be a year fo celebration. I dont’ care what the event. Just waking up is cause to celebrate. Who was it who said, “Every day above ground is a good day?”

Well, whoever it was, was completely right. So I plan to celebrate. I also plan to create many, many opportunities to celebrate – and I expect lots of serendipitous events to come along – just because I am in a mood to celebrate.

Thankfully, I don’t have to start doing this until Jan. 1. That gives me at least four or five more weeks to be grumpy about the obligation to fly to Ontario in the spring. Once January hits I’m going to have to do a happy dance about it – but thankfully, not until then.P1000312
