The swans are well and truly back in Hemer Park. About 12 days ago the first couple landed on the pond, but they were just outliers – resting on the pond, having a good feed, and then traveling on farther south.

Our own swans starting drifting in late last week and are settling in for the winter. Much as I prefer the warmer months of the year, I love the season of the swans and always feel a bit bereft when they leave. One morning in spring I walk by the pond and they are gone. It’s an odd thing. I miss them.

Speaking of missing – the pain in my back continues to improve. The pain is something I don’t miss at all. I was actually able to bend over this afternoon to tie my bootlace. Exciting stuff that!
