Self-indulgence

Look at that face! Doesn’t it look like it needs to be indulged now and then?

I know what you’re thinking. “What do you mean now and then? Wasn’t a month-long hiking trip in Europe plenty of indulgence?”

Well, yes – and no. I could argue that it was a dire necessity – I could, but I won’t. All I’ll say is that Valhalla Pure’s sale is still on and although I checked it out on the weekend, I didn’t buy anything. Oh sure, I wanted the lilac hoodie and all those gorgeous Icebreaker and SmartWool socks (who doesn’t love socks?) but I didn’t buy – I didn’t need them, I said.

So, in the last few days, I convinced myself that I did indeed need them. Who can possibly survive for any great length of time with only two hoodies. Surely I need a third. And as for socks, I agree that I don’t need any more hiking socks – put plain old outdoor socks in gorgeous patterns and colours – well of course I need them.

So now I have them.

And I’ve called Kathy at Impact Painting to tell her I’m ready to revamp my bathroom and a couple of walls in the great room. That means new colours in plush towels. Yup, I deserve (and need) that too.

Heck, sometimes you have to indulge yourself. It’s good for the soul.
