Today, I got a fistful of Euros at the Credit Union. Then I made a list of the things I have to get before I go: Europe power converter, case for my iPad, extra card for my camera 0 things like that.
It occurred to me that the last time I travelled to Europe (admittedly, a very long time ago) technology was just not an issue. Power converter? What for? I had to gadgets that I needed to plug in. Camera – well I had a film camera and carried a few extra rolls, all of which would be developed at home. I had no plans to upload them each day on iPad and then blog and post photos.
It seems to me that travelling wa a bit more carefree. I didnt’ worry about checking in with my email every day. Never thought about tweeting or facebooking or blogging. What did I do with all that extra time? Um, as I recall, I spent it sitting at an outdoor cafe at the end of a strenuous day of hiking or sightseeing, just chilling and relaxing. Hmmmm…
Almost made me consider leaving all my technology behind.
