Maple Mountain in May

Not a lot of words today – just photos to prove that one is indeed worth a thousand of them.

Any day hiking on a mountain is better than a day spent indoors. Today I went up Maple Mountain from the Osborn Bay Road side and came back down on the ocean side. I was sad to see two new signs recently erected on the trail: No Trespassing. Private Property. I have no idea who that property belongs to. It seems that the few hikers and mountain bikers who have been using these trails for years have never done any harm…. sigh.

I think I’m beginning to understand how a bear feels when people keep creeping into its property where it lives and recreates. Maybe I’ll have to go down to the houses on the road and turn over a few garbage cans to get a message across.

That aside, what a wonderful and Zen-like day it was. I am now fresh out of a bubble bath and feeling mellow, peaceful and absolutely content.
