What I love: the end of the day – Friday – the end of the week. Sun pouring in on my desk – warmth. Knowing that all the loose ends are tied up and I have nothing to do but look forward to a terrific two days. Tomorrow we will hike the cowpath – so an early start for an all-day walk. Sunday – just a semi-lazy day that will include a trip to the north end to do some necessary shopping. Still, it’s something I do so rarely, it feels like a special outing.
I have been following the events of this week – terror and more terror – and watching the mainstream media botch everything – and watching as the NRA hijacks America’s democracy. For my American friends – listen: this is why there is a second amendment: so that a small group of people won’t take over the country. If you take up arms against anything or anyone, it should be the NRA and their bought minions: the Senate.
Meanwhile in Canada, the next election can’t come soon enough – and I can only hope that the Harper henchmen won’t steal the election.
Interesting times, to say the least.
And so I retreat to nature for the refreshing of my soul. But that doesn’t mean I retreat from the world. I know what is going on. I know that I act – I do my small part. If I am called to do a larger part, I will.
I believe that the majority of people in this world (a vast majority) are of good heart and filled with love for one another and for the earth. All we have to do is mobilize that love. It will overcome anything.
