Signs of spring: Longer daylight hours – of course.
The shrubs bursting out in green.
Today – pussy willows lining the last part of our trail walk.
In the morning – birds singing loud enough to make a serious racket (lovely racket).
And the absolute most positive sign of spring: going to sleep at night to the chorus of frogs – an operatic chorus worthy of Verdi or Rossini.
And, on a day like today, the slant of the afternoon sunlight – although, honestly, you can’t beat those frogs.
I was going to say something about the horrible clear cutting and destruction on the Extension Ridges where we hiked for about four hours today. But really, what is there to say? It’s heartbreaking. I choose, however, to focus on the trails still available for hiking – and the beauty still available to us.
