Abby and I took two walks today (of course) – the second was at Nanaimo River Park. We arrived just as the sun came out and guess what? The sun crept back behind the clouds almost as soon as we left. We were so blessed. Naturally I had a ton of fun taking photos.
Other Sunday thoughts? Well, I read the Daily News with its front page “City’s 20 most powerful people.” As usual, a completely misogynistic piece: two women and 18 men – and those men – all white – all business men. Were the arts represented at all? Hell no! Perhaps the editorial staff might want to define “power” for starters. We have women in this city (and men) who have been awarded the Order of Canada – not represented in this group. At least the newspaper got one thing right, naming the city manager as number one and the mayor number nine. It has never been a secret that the city manager in Nanaimo pulls the strings and the politicians jump to staff demands. It’s a crime the way they spend taxpayer money.
Other happenings: I have agreed to being an adjunct editor on a book written by two people I admire greatly. Gret fun so far. It’s going to be a super book. I will let you know when it hits the shelves!
