After a few days off to be lazy and concentrate almost solely on The Voice and X Factor (no – I don’t feel in the least bit guilty) today was a full-on writing day: day two of my new book. It’s been a while – at least a year, I think, since I last immersed myself in the process and at least three years, since I wrote a non-fiction book. It’s good to be back in the saddle. The farther I get into it, the more I see how immense a project it is.
Today I explored Brandy’s back story – what brought her to a place like O.U.R. Ecovillage? It turns out that her influences created a perfect storm. There was really no other destination. It’s a great story.
Of course, today was also the day when all hell began to break loose at the newspapers and the assignments started coming in after nothing for two weeks. That seems to be the pattern now – all four newspapers going to press in a two-week span rather than being spread out over the month.
The good news is that this is Friday night – I’m done for the week and next week will be a very satisfying one.
