Food

Yes, we went hiking today and yes, it was wet and, on top of the ridge, very, very windy. How windy was it? Well, if I weighed just two pounds less, I bet I’d have been blown off the cliff.

But that’s not the point of this post. The subject today is food – and not just any food. In particular, Indian food. It’s no secret that I adore Indian food – and what self respecting vegetarian or vegan doesn’t? And I have had Indian food in many restaurants all over the world, including in India. But NEVER (not even any hyperbole here) have I had any as tasty as what I had today. H came with us on the hike and, as promised, I went to her house afterwards. I swear she spent all day yesterday making Dahl Makhni and Channa Dahl and Aloo Gobi and roti and a ton of other incredible food.

One taste and I found nirvana. And I’m not even a big foodie! But this – this was sublime. Abby thought so too because she manged to leap up, place her paws on the counter and get her snout far enough to the back to pick up a big, fat naan and carry it away. She thought it was very good too.

She was quickly relegated to the back yard with Oreo, the one-year-old Bichon/Havanese (and aptly named) puppy.

I just sat and ate. The best part of all this? Before I left to drive home, H packed a huge bag of food for me which will see me stuffing myself for dinner tonight. Really! Yum! Happiness, clearly, is a warm puppy plus a hot plate of lentils and buttery naan.

Mmmmm indian food! I make a mean “from scratch” tikka masala 🙂 Have you been to Gateway To India?

Yes – I was not impressed with Gateway. Tikka masala – doesn’t that involve chicken. I am a vegan. But seriously – this home cooked food was in a class by itself.
